Roof Cleaning
Nobody walks on your roof. Not even us.
Those black streaks running down an asphalt roof are a cyanobacteria that feeds on the limestone filler in the shingles. Left alone it holds moisture against the roof and shortens its life. It is also, visually, the single thing that makes a well-kept house look neglected.
The usual fix puts someone on the roof with a hose. Every step costs granules, and a wet roof is one of the most dangerous places a person can stand. We treat it from the air instead — the same soft-wash chemistry, delivered without anyone leaving the ground.
What’s included
- Full roof soft-wash treatment for algae, moss and lichen
- Safe on asphalt shingle, metal and composite
- Zero foot traffic — no granule loss from walking
- Gutters and downspouts flushed after
- Surrounding landscaping protected and rinsed
- Before-and-after photos from the drone
The problem
Why you need to do this
What we actually see on Eastern Virginia properties — and why the usual fix falls short.
Black streaks down the shady side
Always worst on the north face, because it stays damp longest. It's algae, it's alive, and it spreads.
Foot traffic damages the roof
Walking an asphalt roof knocks loose the granules that protect it from UV. A cleaning that costs you roof life isn't a bargain.
Somebody could get hurt
Falls are the leading cause of death in construction work. There is no reason for a person to be on a wet, sloped roof to clean it in 2026.
Know what you're looking at
Not all of it is algae
Four different organisms show up on a roof, and they don't all behave the same way. We identify what's actually there before we mix anything.
Moss
Thick, green or brown spongy clumps that lift up shingle edges, trap water, and tear roofing materials during high winds.
Algae
Dark, black or greenish streaks (often Gloeocapsa magma) that feed on the limestone filler inside asphalt shingles.
Lichen
Crusty, flat patches in gray, green, or blue tones formed by a mix of fungus and algae that tightly grip and pit the shingle surface.
Mold and Mildew
Fuzzy or slimy patches that grow in damp, shaded areas, retaining moisture and posing potential health risks.
How we do it
Start to finish
- 01
Roof survey from the air
The drone inspects before it cleans. You get photos of what's actually up there — often the first time an owner has seen their own roof.
- 02
Match the treatment to the roof
Asphalt, metal and composite each take a different mix. Metal and tile roofs are quoted individually.
- 03
Soft wash, no pressure
Chemistry does the work, not force. Pressure on a roof is how you void a shingle warranty.
- 04
Rinse and flush
Roof rinsed, gutters and downspouts flushed clear of everything that came off it.

FAQs
Roof Cleaning questions
Soft washing is the method shingle manufacturers themselves recommend. Pressure washing is what voids warranties.
Most of it lifts within days of the treatment as the dead growth washes off with the first few rains. Heavy lichen can take a few weeks to fully release.
Yes. Metal and tile are quoted on-site rather than through the instant quote, because coating and seam condition change the approach.
Reviews
What Eastern Virginia says about us
Real words from real Drone Precision Solutions customers.
“I cannot say enough great things about this company! They power washed our entire home and cleaned all of our windows, and the difference is absolutely incredible. Everything looks fresh, bright, and practically brand new again! They were professional, thorough, dependable, and paid attention to every little detail. The windows are spotless, and the exterior of the house looks better than I could have imagined. You can tell they genuinely take pride in their work, and it absolutely shows in the finished product. I would 100% recommend them to anyone needing power washing or window cleaning. Five stars all around, we will definitely be using them again!”
“I can't tell you how many complaints we get from our guests when we have to wash our hotel, which usually takes 2–3 days. You guys were in and out in a day and knocked out the front in a couple of hours during guest turnover. Can't imagine using anyone else ever again.”
“I can't thank you enough — what a pleasure it was working with you on getting ESCC's exterior windows and building cleaned up. What a difference! I greatly appreciate it.”
